Fye's powers emerged long before her Naming, the child that was called Amber found herself surrounded by a ring of fire where there was once a ring of clover. Perhaps it had been the fault of her older brother, teasing her about her crush on a Earth Blessed who was kind to her in school. Frose—an Ice/Snow Blessed—was always teasing her on a multitude of subjects, from her hair to her clothes which were just hand-me-downs of his altered to fit a girl to how she chose to try and make her speech sound less "country". One moment she was searching the patch for four-leaf clovers, then flames three feet high for a few seconds before suddenly a snowbank blanketing her and the ring in the middle of summer.
So her childhood ended at the ripe age of 8, Amber was no more and Fye was who stepped out of the Naming Circle that evening. That night she spent in tears; dreams of burying her face in flowers, a larder full of food she'd grown herself, and a home smelling of fresh cut pine all burst into flame. Sure, she could enjoy all of those things without the aid of her Blessing, but it didn't fit into the plans made by an 8 year old. Not to mention the wrench it'd thrown into her Shadow and Water Blessed parents' plans of matching her to another Shadow Blessed lad, hoping to throw her Blessing that way. If she had likened to him, anyway, and they didn't know of her fondness for the Earthen boy.
But Blessings rarely went the way that others planned them.
Blessings have been around since the earliest days of their people, very few Blessed are able to pull of Great Works. Mostly everyone seems to be at the same levels of abilities; and while one Blessing might be able to combine strength and skills with one of another Blessing, multiples of the same sort never seem to do more than their individual abilities allow. One's heritage never dictates what kind of Blessing you'll find yourself with, two Light Blessed might turn out a Time Blessed. You might find your Blessing early or late, though it is unusual, but there's one thing for sure...
No one has ever gone past the age of 18 without receiving their Blessing. Everyone is Blessed.
Or are they...

Blessings
Date: 2018-09-25 07:01 am (UTC)Magic - Jack-o-Trades, only "okay" at all other magics and sometimes not all of them. these are the rarest sort of blessed.
Lightning - cannot call lightning down on people to strike them dead, that's in the HIGHER levels of blessings. mostly sparky, generates energy. can still die from lightning strikes.
Blood - healers of a sort, can't replace flesh or organs, or mend bone. only the best can mend flesh as well, most still have to use stitches and bandages.
Air - base elemental power. millers and sometimes sailors (to help with the wind). can still suffocate or break their bones from a hard wind/fall.
Fire - base elemental power. most tend to go into the cooking or firefighting fields. can still be burned.
Water - base elemental power. most are fisherman or explorers of the waters. can still drown.
Ice/Snow - base elemental power. cannot redirect winter storms, not even in large numbers. can still freeze.
Earth - base elemental power. most are farmers or herders, very few are miners. can still die if buried within the earth.
Life - can help create life for those that are barren, coupled with earth it can help prompt growth where destruction once lay.
Death - can only slow it to a point, cannot stop it, alternatively if the person agrees to it, will speed along their own death without pain.
Shadow - can manipulate shadows but cannot force the owner of the shadow to do things they wouldn't want. make them lighter or darker in color.
Light - detectives of sorts, being able to see colored "pixie dust" from the blessing used. slight light manipulation, brighter/dimmer, flameless light.

Date: 2018-09-26 12:37 am (UTC)After her Naming, Fye gave up for a while on her dream of gardens and wooden enclosures, reluctantly throwing herself into the lessons to help her "gift" of fire. If only to stop setting herself (hair and clothes) and other things on fire when the temper got the best of her. With her Blessing revealing itself it seemed as if her temper grew short as well to match. Probably why they ended up putting her with a slightly older Lightning Blessed named Tes, the girl had an infinite well of patience it seemed and was able to pinpoint her lightning to gently shock Fye into realizing her temper level. Before she set fire to something accidentally.
Their friendship grew strong and lasted for many years past the required schooling of temper and Blessing. It was Tes that recommended to Fye that she try for her dream again, this time without the Earth boy and the ease of Blessings. Doing so, of course, was already against the rules for a Fire Blessed, who's path now steered her towards the home and hearth. They still made plans, talked about it in their moonlight gatherings near that scorched bit of earth in Fye's backyard, about running away from the village together. Of finding a new home with gentler rules on what Blessed might be able to do what. Or making their own home in the middle of the woods or a field or on an island. Or a mountain! They'd be together through it all!
And then Tes fell ill on the eve of her 20th birthday. (Fye was 18.)
It wasn't anything that the Blood Healers could fix. It was something inside that went terribly wrong. Tes argued with Fye, trying to convince her to go on without her, this was Fye's childhood dream and it was attainable! Their arguing—even with Tes' illness and the years spent being shocked out of her fire-fueled anger—fire still threatened to flare up. Tes, of course, shocked her back to her senses one last time; the lightning arcing between the two more of a light show than anything substantially painful. Her life long friend, her rock, was gone. Choked with sadness and guilt, Fye ran from the Tes' house, ran from the village, only stopping to grab a bag filled from when they were still planning to go.
Fye managed to get at least a good 50 miles from her home village during the first five years. Spending them on just surviving, learning, and trying finding a place where she could live without being forced into a kitchen. She ended up in an old stone farmhouse in the middle of the woods, where she started all over again, relearning how to control her Blessing without setting everything on fire. Fye left the farmhouse after another five years, finally feeling brave enough to set up her home in a wooden structure. If not brave enough to start her first garden...
Of course, frustration was strong and fire raged more than once out where she attempted her gardening. After a few days of this, she started hearing snickering out in the woods. Of course, looking around she never quite saw the hooded figure in the depths of the trees until they made themselves known. (Which, of course, at this point, they haven't.)

Date: 2020-07-26 06:34 am (UTC)2. How old is she? She's currently 28, she was born on the hottest day of summer in remembrance. Should've been a clue, honestly, about her Blessing. It was also the summer solstice for the year, June 21st for our calendar.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch? One thing Fye tries not to do is draw attention to herself and her height already does that. So she doesn't quite...slouch per say as she draws her shoulders inwards, and ducks her head. But as she's spent more time alone out in the woods she's started walking and carrying herself in a more natural way, there's no reason to hide that part of her in the woods.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Picture of perfect health~ Though she's possibly got high-blood pressure due to the fire nature of Blessing.
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? Tensely. Almost timidly. As if she's afraid of setting a trail of fire behind her. But she's not jumpy, unless startled, because the last thing you want to be as Fire Blessed is jumpy. She holds herself in absolute control if around people. Out in the Ever Forest she's been able to slightly relax this.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? Quite lovely, honestly. Not what you would call mousy or plain. She's got a quiet beauty that doesn't bring attention to itself. It grows on you the longer you're around her. However, she's of the viewpoint that she's very mousy.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Clear for the most part, she's absolutely covered in freckles however. There's also a small burn scar just below her left earlobe from one of the fire blossoms that floated around her early in her Blessing's days.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style. It falls just under her bust, an auburn color on just a slightly cool side. Still plenty warm in color. It doesn't curl in tight coils so much as it just pleasantly waves. She tends to pull it up into a bun to keep it out of the way, only leaving it down when it's drying from the wash.
9. What color are her eyes? A clear sort of green that almost looks like a crystal, but like crystals she's got flecks of brown and gold in her eyes.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Aside from the various burns elsewhere on her body, freckles, and height....not really?
11. What are her chief tension centers? She carries a lot of her tension in her hands, curled tightly more often than not as she tries to keep control. And the back of her neck/tops of her shoulders, just really...from holding herself tightly.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit? X or X but more neutral colors like greens and browns, her two dresses and apron are rather frayed and worn. They could use a good patching, that's for sure. She's got a robe/dressing gown that she'll cover her chemise with if she's not quite ready to get dressed for the day or is getting ready for bed.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them? They're definitely not the hand-me-downs she used to wear that were her brother's tunics. But she's definitely due for new clothing, not from them being too worn—though it's a factor—since there's a fair bit of ankle and wrist showing. Boots are getting a little threadbare but she's trying to go barefoot more often than not.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences? She wears the apron for chores but most of the time it's just the dresses on their own.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Uh...proper undergarments of the time probably? She's got her drawers on, living alone or not!!!
speech
Date: 2022-05-22 01:08 am (UTC)2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate? There's plenty of hesitation normally, except for when she's angry or excited. That's when the words just tend to bubble up inside her and spill out without order.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? She's tried her best to tune the "country" out of her voice—or at least what she takes that to be. Mostly she's just succeeded in giving herself an accent/dialect that sets her apart from her home village. Which suits her just fine.
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency? Given how remote her home village is, chances are that she speaks anything other than Common (English equivalent) are very slim. There might be a few High (Latin) phrases here or there, but mostly only identifying terms for plants.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations? As mentioned in #2, excitement or anger tend to make her words spill out and her accent/dialect falls back to her home village's.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words? She takes her time...most times, thinking about an answer if it's somewhat of a touchy subject. It's not in her to try and rile someone's anger and in turn rile her own on purpose.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Again, referencing #2 and #5 of this section for circumstances. But for the most part she's somewhere in the middle of the two, leaning more heavily to inarticulate when it's a new situation/feeling. She has grown up in the country, rural areas, and so formal education one might get in a more city-like area is vastly different.
